Prior to joining Blue Sea, Scott was an investment professional at Trivest Partners, a middle market private equity firm. Scott began his career in investment banking as a member of Raymond James’ Mergers & Acquisitions Group.

Vice President of Portfolio Operations

As Vice President of Portfolio Operations at Blue Sea Capital, Sam contributes to the strategic and operational development of our healthcare portfolio companies. Prior to joining Blue Sea Capital, Sam was the CFO of ReferWell. Sam began his career as part of the corporate finance team at Allscripts.

Pat Boroian
Partner

As a Partner at Blue Sea Capital, Pat is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities and quarterbacking origination across the firm. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. With nearly 30 years of private equity and private credit experience, Pat previously served as a Managing Director & Head of Originations at Carlyle Global Credit and as a Partner at LNK Partners and Brockway Moran & Partners, where he led their respective origination activities. Prior to that, he served as a General Partner at DLJ’s venture capital affiliate, The Sprout Group and as a Managing Director at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners.

Pat is a father of five children. In his spare time, he enjoys global travel, golf, fine wines and spiritual pursuits.

J. Thomas Bowler
Human Capital Partner

Mr. Bowler is a Human Capital Partner at Blue Sea Capital. Tom is responsible for providing guidance to Blue Sea Capital and its portfolio companies to maximize their human capital investments.

Tom most recently served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Organization of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) reporting to the Chairman and CEO. During his nearly 35-year career with UTC, Tom held senior global leadership roles across a number of business units including Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, Carrier Corporation, Hamilton Sundstrand and the former UT Automotive business.

Tom is married with two adult children and seven grandchildren. In October of 2022 Tom was elected to the Corporation of The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution which is the world’s independent leader in ocean discovery, exploration and education. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of RSR Partners. Tom served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee as well as on the Executive Committee of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) from 2014 until 2019. He is an avid sailor who enjoys competing in both local regattas are long distance ocean racing.

Max Brenner
Vice President

Prior to joining Blue Sea Capital, Max was an Associate at Linden Capital Partners, a middle market healthcare private equity firm based in Chicago. Max began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Greenhill & Co.

In his spare time, Max enjoys spending time with his family and girlfriend, skiing, hiking, and following the Miami Dolphins and University of Michigan Wolverines.

James R. Davis, Jr.
Managing Partner

As a Managing Partner at Blue Sea Capital, J.R. is responsible for leading and managing the firm as well as sourcing, evaluating, executing and managing Healthcare investments. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to founding Blue Sea Capital, J.R. was a Partner of Brockway Moran & Partners, a middle market private equity firm. Before that, he was an Analyst at Code Hennessy & Simmons and a Financial Analyst in the Corporate Finance department of Salomon Brothers. J.R. previously served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

J.R. is married with three sons and two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, water sports, Miami Dolphins football, podcasts and reading. He is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and also a founding board member of the Positive Coaching Alliance (Florida), a national non-profit that strives to develop “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide young and high school athletes with a positive, character-building youth sports experience.

Previously, Eric held senior positions with Heller Financial and KPMG Peat Marwick, where he began his career.

Harris D. Thompson
Operating Partner

As an Operating Partner at Blue Sea Capital, Harris contributes to the strategic and operational development of the firm’s healthcare portfolio companies. He is an operator with more than 15 years of experience in executive management within both private equity-backed and publicly traded organizations, including his most recent position as Chief Executive Officer of the physical therapy company Pivot Health Solutions. During the prior 10 years, Harris held roles at two publicly traded companies, MEDNAX and General Electric. He was President of MEDNAX, a nationwide physician group, where he oversaw the operations of an $800 million anesthesiology business that provided services through thousands of clinicians and support staff in dozens of large-scale hospital systems. Prior to becoming President, Harris served as the VP of M&A, leading transactions across multiple services lines. At General Electric, he held positions within its industrial, capital and corporate divisions. Harris began his career as a Six-Sigma Black Belt for GE Supply before moving into a corporate role as a member of GE’s Corporate Audit Staff (CAS). During that time, he worked internationally in London, Vienna, Paris, Rotterdam, Milan, Prague and Mexico City, as well as countless domestic locations, including the GE Capital and GE Corporate facilities in Connecticut. Following CAS, Harris joined GE Capital’s Commercial Distribution Financing organization as a VP of Business Development.

Previously, he was the CEO of Air Medical Group Holdings, a company which he grew from a regional air medical company with 42 bases to the world’s largest provider of air medical services, with 350 bases across 40 states and a global service reach. Fred also grew its ground medical transportation operation into the world’s largest, with 250 base locations across 42 states. Prior to AMGH, Fred served as President & CEO of Comair Airlines, Inc. and CEO of Delta Connection. As a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, Fred served as mission commander during Desert Storm/Operation Southern Watch. He has briefed the President on F-15E combat systems and was recognized as the “Top Gun” of his fighter squadron.

His previously held roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a global $45 billion Life Sciences Company, include President of Fisher Healthcare, the Clinical Diagnostic Division, which he grew to be the number one market share leader with $2.5 billion in revenue, and President of the company’s Corporate Healthcare Contract Division, which included handling domestic and global contracts totaling a $2.4 billion portfolio. Prior to Thermo Fisher, Michael was the Global VP of Corporate Accounts for WW Grainger Inc., a $17 billion global  industrial supply company. During his tenure as a global leader, Michael and his team signed the most customer contracts in the company’s one hundred-year history.     Michael currently serves on the Board of Directors of Watts Water Technology Inc. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and was the former chairman of the board for HIDA (Health Industry Distributors Association).

    As an Executive Advisor to Blue Sea Capital, Dr. Lehman assists with the evaluation and management of the firm’s healthcare investments.  He is a board-certified comprehensive otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon who has specialized in head and neck oncology and advanced sinus surgery.  He has been a partner at ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida since 2015, preceded by Palm Beach ENT starting in 2005.  He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University.  After graduating as valedictorian from the University of Florida College of Medicine, he completed his internship in general surgery and residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital.  He has previously served as Chief of Surgery at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach.  Dave serves as Senior Principal Medical Director at Modernizing Medicine, a company specializing in building specialty-specific electronic medical record and practice management software.  He coded and continues to maintain the otolaryngology and allergy products and oversees their continuing development and growth strategy, while also managing and advising the medical directors of ophthalmology, obstetrics-gynecology, and urology.

    Dave is married with three children.  In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, ultra-marathon distance running, playing music with his sons, and spending time traveling with his wife and sons.

    As an Executive Advisor to Blue Sea Capital, Dr. Lewis assists with the evaluation and management support of the firm’s healthcare investments. An orthopedic surgeon by training, Dr. Lewis has more than 30 years of significant experience across medicine, healthcare and education and has been a principal, advisor, and consultant to healthcare businesses, investment banks, venture capital, and private equity. Dr. Lewis was a Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the Admissions Committee, as well as the MD-MBA program’s Associate Director. Dr. Lewis was also a Senior Lecturer at the Tuck School of Business, where he co-created and taught the course “Investing and Deal Making in Healthcare.” Prior to Dartmouth, Dr. Lewis was an Endowed Professor, Chairman of Orthopedics, and Chief of Staff at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. While at Mount Sinai, he served as the Vice President of a 500-physician Orthopedic practice group. In Nashville, Dr. Lewis served as Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University, as well as the Medical Director and Governing Board member of Vanderbilt’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Prior roles include the Executive Vice President and Board member of Active Implants Corporation, an innovative orthopedic implants business, as well as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Priority Healthcare Corporation (Nasdaq: PHCC). Dr. Lewis also invented a medical device that helped eliminate the need for amputation in some children with bone cancer. Earlier, he served as an active-duty Medical Officer in the United States Navy; received his Orthopedic training at the Hospital for Special Surgery; and was a Fellow in Surgery at Memorial Hospital-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

    During the past two decades, he has executed over a dozen transactions including, acquisitions, debt and equity capital offerings, and both direct sales and spin-offs for organizations under his leadership to institutional investors and large strategic competitors. As CEO of Blue Sky Network, a satellite communications solutions provider to defense and enterprise users operating in remote environments on land, sea, and in the air, he diversified, grew organically and through acquisition, and divested the business over four years. Before joining Blue Sky Network, he served as Chief Commercial Officer of MRO Holdings and was co-owner and COO of Flightstar Aircraft Services, one of the leading airframe MROs in North America, where he sold the business twice over a decade. Prior to that, Tucker was a Managing Director of M&A for Headwaters MB and a private equity investor with Brockway Moran & Partners.

He currently serves as a Voluntary Professor on the clinical faculty at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he previously held a full-time faculty position.
